The scars of two years of war are evident across Ukraine’s second city of Kharkiv, just 42km from the Russian border and a frequent target of missile and drone attacks. Nevertheless, daily life continues for many. Businesses remain open, cafés are busy and there is even some nightlife in a city that was seen as a cultural hub before the war.
